Multi-MPPT inverters for residential and commercial photovoltaic systems

KACO new energy, a subsidiary of Siemens AG and a specialist in photovoltaic inverters since 1999, has introduced a new generation of inverters. The nine PV inverters, ranging from 3.0 kW to 33.0 kW nominal power, are expected to replace their predecessors in the foreseeable future.

The Kaco blueplanet NX3 string inverters can be divided into three groups:

  • blueplanet 3.0 + 5.0 NX3 M2 for small private PV systems
  • blueplanet 8.0 - 20.0 NX3 for residential and small commercial PV systems
  • blueplanet 25.0 - 33.0 NX3 for commercial use

Due to the wide operating range of 125-1000V, the 3-20kW units start working even at low solar irradiation and so produce current. With the maximum short-circuit current of 25A, they also meet the requirements of higher module power classes. The new devices also feature a robust and attractive design and easy installation. All the inverters mentioned are ideally suited for outdoor installation according to protection class IP 65 and IP66. The larger models from 25 to 33kW are equipped with passive cooling, making them less susceptible to faults and requiring less maintenance than comparable devices with active cooling.

For more flexibility in system configuration, the 15-20kW units are equipped with two MPP trackers with two connections each. The 25-33kW inverters have three MPP trackers with two connections each. This allows PV systems with up to three compass directions or with different tilt angles to be realised.

The new generation of inverters covers a large number of different roof situations, both in the residential and commercial sector. Whether it is a small private installation with two module strings or a commercial one with up to six module strings, there is always a suitable inverter solution. With a wide range of installation videos, 24/7 service and additional 2nd and 3rd level support, Kaco offers installers comprehensive support.

Last but not least, the answer to the most frequently asked question about availability. The delivery of the new Kaco inverters is planned by Krannich for Q3.
