Cooperation with storage system manufacturer BYD

Chinese battery manufacturer plans 20 percent market share

Krannich Solar, one of the leading wholesalers for photovoltaics and a specialist in storage solutions, has signed a cooperation agreement with the Chinese manufacturer BYD for the distribution of their storage systems. BYD is the world's largest manufacturer of rechargeable batteries and wants to achieve a 20% share of the stationary storage system market by 2017, i.e. home storage systems and small commercial storage systems.

The B-BOX AC-coupled system can be flexibly configured and can be extended in 2.5 kWh or 12.8 kWh steps. A long-life lithium iron phosphate battery unit with a battery management system (BMS) lies behind the housing of every battery unit. The B-BOX can be customised for any application thanks to its flexible design and excels with its outstanding battery parameters. The low-voltage system is available immediately from Krannich Solar with the battery inverters Sunny Island from SMA and SolaX Power.

BYD announced in February that it would launch a high-voltage system this year. The B-Box H can be used amongst other things with the SMA Sunny Boy Storage that was introduced last year for the Tesla battery. In contrast to the Tesla battery, where the high battery voltage is generated through a boost converter, the new product is a real high-voltage system where the high voltage is generated by several battery modules connected in series.

“We have gained one of the most globally successful, innovative and fastest growing companies as a partner with BYD”, states Kurt Krannich, owner and CEO of the PV and storage system specialists. “The B-BOX from BYD initially gives us a very flexible and innovative storage system in our range that is perfect for our customers’ private and commercial applications.”
